Mr. Go-Glass – About Us HISTORY - Focused Shop to Diversified Chain: In 1982, Larry Linderer, a former PPG executive, founded the Salisbury Glass Company. The company began as a single shop with five employees. A year later, his son Doug joined. The company grew, bringing in more expertise in the form of key people. Since then the core staff has become the main ingredient of a people-centered business. Over time, seven more locations and a variety of services were added, transforming a one-shop company into the premier glass chain, servicing all of Eastern Shore. In 1992, Doug Linderer bought the company from his father, and added three more stores to the array. His focus was the same, but he enlarged a passionate view of safety, certification, and quality service in all aspects of the business. His approach grew into a more diversified array of divisions under the Go-Glass umbrella. In addition to Auto Glass, he added Home and Business divisions and then Go-Builder Services to handle a growing need for commitment oriented subcontracting to developers. IDENTITY - The Creation of Mr. Go-Glass: For the first fifteen years, advertising that promised fast response to emergency glass needs was depicted by an “action” hero named Mr. Good Glass. Always ready to give immediate assistance with a broken windshield, Mr. Good Glass represented the company’s focus on emergency auto glass service. Then, to resolve a trade name overlap with “Mr. Goodwrench,” Salisbury Glass revised the name of its mascot, Mr. Good Glass, by dropping the “od” from “Good” in Good-Glass. Mr. Go-Glass was born. The change was significant because it became a much clearer expression of the company’s central promise—fast service, and it was now distinct and available as a federally registered trade mark. The Mr. Go-Glass icon became so well respected in the glass industry on a national level, and such a clear representation of all that company stands for, that the company took on the Mr. Go-Glass identity entirely as the corporate name. VISION - Go-Glass Maxims: Today Mr. Go-Glass Corporation employs over ninety people, serving portions of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia from eight locations. Its philosophy remains the essentially the same: customer centered and market driven. But mostly, Mr. Go-Glass is successful because of its key people. 1. Ordinary people
