Glass & Mirror Etching

The tremendous popularity of etched glass and mirror is hardly surprising, considering the elegance and expressiveness of the medium. With Mr. Go-Glass’ glass etching equipment, any glass surface, from windows to tabletops, can be custom designed using a technique called abrasive etching. Abrasive glass etching is the process of sand blasting the exposed areas of a glass surface, while leaving other areas covered. Etched glass can be an important design element appropriate for commercial and professional buildings, homes and yachts.

By etching the front side of the glass or mirror the surface appears translucent, white and frosted; unetched glass appears smooth, clear and dark by comparison.  Another option with mirror is to etch the backing side of the mirror to combine a glass and mirror effect on a single piece.  Some customers paint the areas where the mirror backing was removed to add splashes of color to these unique decorative pieces.

Typical examples of items that are etched:

•    Windows and doors
•    Showers and bath enclosures
•    Tabletops, mirrors, and shelving
•    Interior glass partitions
